According to CNN’s Antena 3 affiliate, Van Damme allegedly accepted five women as a “gift” from a criminal organization. The Romanian authorities have referred the case to the Directorate for the Prosecution of Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT). They claim that the actor was aware that the women were forced to this “meeting” and are victims of human trafficking.

The alleged incident allegedly took place in France, during an event organized by Van Damme himself in Cannes. According to Romanian media, one of the women who participated in the event decided to break her silence and gave a statement, which led to the initiation of an investigation by DIICOT.
Attorney Adrian Cuculis, who represents one of the injured women, said that those involved in organizing the procedure knowingly offered five women to the famous actor, who was supposedly fully aware of their situation.
This is not the first case of this type in recent times. The scandal involving Andrew and Tristan Tate, who were arrested in Romania in 2022 on charges of human trafficking and exploitation of women, has had a big impact. After a long investigation, they were allowed to leave the country, but the case continues to stir up huge emotions. The similarities to the current charges against Van Damme make the topic even more controversial. Is the Hollywood star actually guilty? This is a question that investigators will answer.
