Chained and imprisoned in a dog cage. Mother and stepfather accused of abusing their daughter

It is hard to believe that a mother could do such a thing to her own daughter. Brenda Spencer (38) and her partner Branndon Mosley (41) allegedly imprisoned the teenager in their home for seven years in horrible conditions, beat her and sexually abused her. The 18-year-old, who miraculously managed to escape from captivity and call the police, was allegedly kept in a dog cage and a bathroom, where she was chained.

Gloucester Township, NJ, police said it was one of the nastiest cases they have ever seen.

During a press conference on Wednesday, May 14, officers announced that charges had been brought against two residents of the town who allegedly abused their 18-year-old daughter. On May 8, the girl managed to escape from her home and ask a neighbor for help, who, upon hearing her story, decided to call the police.

The teenager revealed to police a horrifying story of several years of serious abuse. As she revealed, unemployed 38-year-old Brenda Spencer and her 41-year-old partner Branndon Mosley – a train conductor for SEPTA – had been abusing her since around 2018 , when she was taken out of the school where she studied in the sixth grade at her mother’s request.

The victim reported that shortly thereafter, she was forced to live in a dog cage for approximately a year, from which she was periodically let out. She was later forced to live in a bathroom that was padlocked and chained. She stated that she was let out of the bathroom when family members visited the residence ,” Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay said in a statement. She also reported being locked in an empty room with a bucket for a toilet. “She also reported being beaten with a belt and sexually assaulted by Mosley ,” investigators said.

Detectives searched the couple’s home, where they confirmed that the victim was forced to live in squalid conditions with numerous dogs, chinchillas and other animals. They also found the woman’s other, 13-year-old daughter , who had also been taken out of school several years earlier and homeschooled. Spencer and Mosley were detained.

Symbolically, because on Mother’s Day, May 11, the 38-year-old and 41-year-old were charged with kidnapping, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, assault, assault with a weapon and illegal possession of a weapon. Mosley is also facing charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. Both were taken to Camden County Jail pending hearings in Superior Court, prosecutors said.
