Dog mauls baby. Father speaks up. “Why does God do this to us?”

A few days after the tragic death of seven-month-old Elizah Turner from Ohio, her devastated father has spoken out. He wants to warn other parents against a similar tragedy. His beloved daughter died after being mauled by the family’s dog.
The drama unfolded Wednesday, April 9, at a home in Columbus. Body camera footage released by police shows a man greeting the officer and explaining that a dog had attacked a child at the home that morning. The girl’s father then says he had trapped one of the dogs in a black car and that there were two more on the property. By that time, the bitten girl was no longer home.
According to People, the infant was first taken by her parent to a nearby fire station and then transported to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. “Dr. Jennifer Melvin pronounced Elizah dead shortly after the child arrived at the hospital,” a police spokesman said, according to the outlet.
All three dogs that were on the property are currently in the care of Franklin Animal Control, and that agency is currently investigating this fatal incident.
The day after the tragedy, Kameron Turner, the father of little Elizah, spoke out. He posted a very moving message on social media.
I would give my life to bring my child back to life. All I want to say is please to all who have children hold them tight and never leave without them. This pain is unbearable
— Kameron Turner wrote on Facebook.
The devastated man also revealed that the family had just moved into a new home and were excited to start a new chapter in their lives when the tragedy happened. “We have a long road ahead of us and I really don’t understand why God is doing this to us. This is going to be the worst road ahead of us (…),” Turner wrote.
I just don’t understand why people who do the right thing have to go through this pain.
— he concluded.
A fundraiser has been launched to help the girl’s parents cover the cost of her burial. The couple also have a 4-year-old son.
