Father and son dead. “It’s extremely rare for someone to die this way”

Tragedy in the United States. Two men, a father and son, lost their lives on a golf course in Georgia during a violent storm. They were crushed by a tree while seeking shelter from the sudden weather breakdown.

The victims were identified as 58-year-old Matthew Terrell Collins Sr. and his 29-year-old son, Matthew Terrell Collins Jr. The men were on a golf course when a severe storm hit. Both sought shelter under a tree, which had a fatal effect.

USA Today reported that the tree snapped and crushed both men. They were killed instantly. “It’s incredibly rare for someone to die like that. … We knew there were storms coming and they were in the forecast for that day, but this one came all of a sudden. It was a light drizzle and then it got really heavy a minute later,” Muscogee County Medical Examiner Buddy Bryan said.

The course was open, they said , because the weather forecast didn’t predict a storm like that. “We knew there were storms coming and they were forecast that day, but this one just came out of nowhere,” Bryan said.

Governor Brian Kemp offered his condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased men. “We are shocked by the tragic loss of two Georgia residents today in Muscogee County due to severe weather. Please join us in praying for their loved ones,” he wrote on social media.
