Jealousy:MyKayla Skinner reacts to women’s gymnastics gold medal win after claiming Simone Biles’ teammates lack ‘work ethic’
MyKayla Skinner is subtly showing her support.
Weeks after the retired gymnast sparked backlash by slamming Simone Biles’ teammates’s “work ethic” and lack of “talent and depth,” she celebrated Team USA’s 2024 Paris Olympics win.
Skinner, 27, reposted a photo of Biles, Jade Carey, Hezly Rivera, Jordan Chiles and Sunisa Lee wearing their gold medals on her Instagram Story Tuesday.
She captioned the upload with multiple heart emojis.
Skinner has yet to address Biles’ social media celebration of the women’s gymnastics team’s victory — which epically clapped back at her critical comments.
“lack of talent, lazy, olympic champions ❤️,” Biles wrote via Instagram.
Olympian McKayla Maroney doubled down on the shade with a comment about the “iconic” champions.
“She f’d around n found out [for real],” the 28-year-old wrote in reference to Skinner. “She f’d around n found out [for real].”
She also issued an apology, telling Carey, 24, Chiles, 23, Lee, 21, and Rivera, 16, she did not mean to “offend or disrespect any of the athletes or take away from their hard work.”
Skinner added, “Your hard work and dedication has paid off and I congratulate each and every one of you.”
The University of Utah student competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics alongside Biles, with the team winning silver medals at the time.
She announced her retirement in July 2021 and is pursuing a degree in broadcast journalism.
As for Biles, the Paris Games mark her third time at the Olympics — and the milestone moment she became the most-decorated gymnast in history with eight total medals.
Multiple social media users have joked that her shady caption toward Skinner “deserves a gold medal” in itself.
