Michelle Obama Speaks Out On New ‘Freedom’ In Shock Divorce Statement

Michelle Obama has spoken out on her newfound ‘freedom’ in a shock statement amid divorce rumors.

Former U.S. president Barack Obama has previously implied that his back-to-back terms in the Oval Office have impacted his relationship with the former first lady.

During a recent interview, he opened up about their 32-year marriage and shocked many with his brutally honest comments.

The 44th president spoke of being in a ‘deep deficit’ with his wife and revealed he’s been trying to dig ‘out of that hole.’

Now, Michelle has opened up about her life and the ‘choice’ she has made for herself.

Michelle’s words come amid rumors of a divorce, which seemingly began in January when the former president attended numerous political events without his wife.

The 61-year-old notably skipped President Donald Trump‘s second inauguration, in addition to the state funeral of former president Jimmy Carter in January.

At the time, an insider said that Michelle had simply ‘checked out’ of DC life, while another source commented: “They don’t pretend that they have this Camelot relationship. They’re not trying to present that they’re this magical couple.”

The former first lady has now spoken out on the matter, addressing her recent absences from political events and speculation of marital troubles.

Appearing on the Work in Progress podcast with actress Sophia Bush, Michelle revealed that she has a newfound ‘freedom’ after making an important decision in her life.

“I could have made a lot of these decisions years ago, but I didn’t give myself that freedom,” she said (per CNN).

“Maybe even as much as I let my kids live their own lives, I use their lives as an excuse for why I couldn’t do something.”

Michelle continued: “And now that’s gone. And so now I have to look at my – I get to look at my calendar, which I did this year, was a real big example of me, myself looking at something that I was supposed to do – you know, without naming names – and I chose to do what was best for me, not what I had to do, not what I thought other people wanted me to do.”

The former first lady went on to discuss how her recent choices to step away from responsibilities have led to raised rumors of divorce from her husband.
I still find time to you know, give speeches, to be out there in the world, to work on projects. I still care about girls’ education. We, you know, the library is opening in a year from now. Certain things I am and am not doing with the library,” she explained.

“That’s the thing that we as women, I think we struggle with like disappointing people. I mean so much so that this year people were, you know – they couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself that they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing.”

Michelle has previously been open about Obama’s political ambition and how marriage in the Oval Office could be tough at times. In her book ‘Becoming,’ she spoke of loneliness and exhaustion.
