A Cybertruck owner from Truckee, California, tested Elon Musk’s claim that the vehicle could “act as a boat” by activating “Wade Mode” to cross a river, but ended up stuck in mud and had to be rescued by the California Highway Patrol.

Although “Wade Mode” raises the Cybertruck’s suspension and pressurizes the battery for shallow water driving, Tesla’s warranty does not cover water damage, and experts warn that Musk’s claims often exceed the vehicle’s actual capabilities.

The incident adds to a series of mishaps involving Cybertruck owners misjudging the truck’s limits off-road, highlighting how Musk’s ambitious statements sometimes mislead new drivers about the risks involved.
